Session Six - Assignment

Assignment
1.Firefox (and downloadhelper) download a YouTube/TeacherTube video and insert into Notebook (60 sec tech - from class) OR IE zamzar
2. itunes – podcasts (smartboard, and a few others) listen/watch *blog /subscribe in itunes (Elementary teachers - Bob Sprankle Elem K-4 Blog/Podcasts... you may find interesting...
3. Assessment - “if” senteo --- online pull down a Senteo lesson … or create one
4. Explore three interactive websites….
5. Recording … SMART Recorder
6. Skype

REQUIRED
7. ** Practice ….required 3 notebook pages …. And ** Practice using the SMARTboard
8. ** Watch the class blog
9. ** PICK 2 items (1-6)

    Good Morning Everyone!

    As you are looking at interactive websites, please keep in mind that I can post them on the wiki www.vbsmart.pbwiki.com. Just email the link to me at my school address pgrier@nmiddlesex.mec.edu. I will check this periodically.

    I've been playing around with inserting a video on a page and I've noticed that once inserted, if I delete it, the video continues to play until I close the page I'm working on. You can save it, open the page again and the sound has stopped...

    Can you stop the video and then delete? It is possible it's playing in another window?

    These three websites seem to be great resources. They apply to other subjects more than mine, but we are here to share. Note that I have found some of the links on each site are broken, but it looks like those that work would be fun on the Smartboard.

    Hi Mary,
    Karen Rixford, Virginia Woodward, and Cynthia Landry,Peg Casson, and Paula Roberts.

    A group of us from Ashby have worked together starting at 9am. We accomplished the following:
    -downloading Firefox and download helper
    -We successfully inserting a teacher tube video into notebook
    -We downloaded a smartboard pod cast lesson into itune and listened to a 45 min. presentation.
    -We unsuccessfully tried the recorder feature. Still having trouble with the play back portion of this task. We get a black screen.
    -Individually finishing 3 slides.
    -We watched the 60 sec. tech video 3X to download firefox helper.
    -We are attending the intel workshop in Boston for April 2nd.
    -We have assembled a group of us to meet weekly to continue smart board professional development.
    -We will submit a summer proposal to create lessons with instructions for teachers.

    Hi Karen,Virginia Cynthia Landry,Peg Casson, and Paula and Paula -
    I am so pleased you were able to download the video and insert into your Notebook. You will find this technique helpful as you move forward with SMARTboard lessons. It sounds like the AES group had a productive day. Continue to explore new notebook lessons/techniques to try in your class! Mary

    I sent you an email but thought I'd check in on the blog as well. I've done 1 & 2 on the list of assignments. Just looking for a little clarification on #7 please. Temp is down today from 101.8 to 99.9. Heading in the right direction!
